PHOTO DIARY: Budapest Guide

Long time no see, right? Anyway, I’m here with a new article! Autumn is beginning, trees are getting more colourful, but the world seems a bit darker. How about we think back to the sunny summer and discover Budapest together? I spent there 4 days by the end of August and I have to say that I loved the city and I have some great memories of my stay there.

Dlouho jsme se neviděli, že? I tak mám pro vás ale nový článek! Začíná podzim, barví se stromy, ale stejně nám ten svět trochu potemněl. Co kdybychom si zavzpomínali na prosluněné léto a objevovali spolu Budapešť? Koncem srpna jsem tam strávila 4 dny a musím říct, že jsem si město zamilovala a vytvořila si na svůj tamější pobyt krásné vzpomínky.

Budapest is the capital city of Hungary. It has a population of over 1,750,000 people and it lays on the banks of the Danube River. On one side of the river, the part of the city is called Buda and the other part is called Pest. It’s the city full of beautiful coffee shops, secondhand bookshops and landmarks. In the part called Pest, you can find the famous Hungarian Parliament; shoes on the bank of the Danube River as a remembrance of the Jews who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II.; synagogue and St. Stephen’s Basilica, where after climbing up few stairs you can see a magnificent view of the whole Budapest for just a small fee.

Budapešť je hlavním městem Maďarska, má přes 1 750 000 obyvatel a leží na řece Dunaji. Části města na jednom břehu se tak říká Buda, a té druhé Pest. Je to město plné krásných kaváren, antikvariátů (i těch knižních) a památek. V části Pest se nachází slavný maďarský parlament, boty na břehu Dunaje, které slouží jako připomínka Židů, kteří byli zabiti fašistickou stranou Šípových křížů během 2. světové války v Budapešti, synagoga a Bazilika svatého Štěpána, odkud je jen za malé vstupné nádherný výhled.

Budapest Eye

On the opposite bank of the Danube River awaits a beautiful Buda Castle, gardens, the National Gallery, Matthias Church and Fishermen’s Bastion. And even though it’ll take some time for you to get up the hill where all these places are located and you’ll get a bit sweaty, it’s completely worth it just because of the wonderful view on the other part of the city.

Na protějším břehu Dunaje na vás čeká nádherná podívaná v podobě Budapešťského hradu, zahrad, Národní galerie, Matyášova chrámu a Rybářských bašt. Sice to bude chvíli trvat, než se vyškrábete až na kopec, kde se všechny zmíněné památky nachází a zapotíte se, ale za ten ohromující výhled na druhou stranu Budapešti to stojí.
